*Get Focused, Get Results*

Do you find that you have lots of ideas, but you never seem to get anywhere with them? Maybe you are good at starting things, but not so good at finishing them. How can you make sure that the great plans you have for 2006 actually come to fruition?

First, choose one thing and work on it. It is possible to work on several projects at the same time. But if you are having trouble finishing anything you may be better off simply choosing one and working on it until it is done.

If it isn’t possible to work on one project exclusively, then set up times when you will work on that project. For example, spend the first hour of each day on it. Make this appointment a priority.

Break the project into pieces. Instead of “writing and publishing a book,” define the individual tasks and the sequence in which they must be completed.

Make yourself accountable. Setting external deadlines will hold your feet to the fire. Trying to develop a workshop? Schedule it. Having to present on that date will force you to complete it. Put together a group of people working on projects. Share your deadlines and progress.

Hire a coach. They can help you get past the obstacles in the way of reaching your goals. And when you are paying someone to keep you focused, the mere fact you have money invested can help you focus.

Just do it. Stop making excuses. Stop stalling. Do it.

And when you reach a goal, use the excitement, energy and momentum to get a head start on your next project.
